SONIQS WIN IT ALL
Continuing their legacy of dominance, Soniqs Esports emerges as the champions of the PUBG Global Series 2023 (PGS2).
In a showdown that spanned several weeks of intense competition, Soniqs Esports once again showcased their skill sets in PUBG at the global level. The PUBG Global Series 2023 (PGS2), renowned for its formidable $2 million prize pool, attracted the best teams from around the world, all vying for the championship.
Soniqs is comprised of the exceptional lineup of Hunter “Hwinn” Winn, Tristan “Shrimzy” Nowicki, Austin “M1me” Scherff, James “TGLTN” Giezen, and Head Coach Owen "Gunner" Monahan. This team showcased not only individual talent but a harmonious synergy that set them apart from the competition.
PGS2 pitted the team against a field of top-tier competitors, including other Americas teams such as Team Falcons, Luminosity Gaming, and Friendly Fire.
The competition commenced with a comprehensive three-day Group Stage, encompassing a total of 18 matches. Over the course of these days, Soniqs amassed an impressive aggregate of 98 points. This performance solidified their place in the Top 5 rankings and positioned them confidently within the Winners Bracket.
Moving ahead, the next test arrived in the form of the Winners Bracket. This phase spanned two days, featuring 12 more rounds. The top 8 teams from this bracket would secure their spots in the Grand Finals. Soniqs performed admirably, recording 66 kills and 42 placement points. This effort brought their total to 108 points, securing them a solid 1st place and a clear qualification for the Grand Finals.
The ultimate challenge to determine the PUBG Champion had arrived: the Grand Finals. Spread across three days, these finals consisted of 18 intense rounds. Soniqs achieved a noteworthy 89 kills along with 70 placement points, leading to a cumulative total of 159 points. With a commanding lead of 13 points over their competitors, they cemented their position as undisputed champions, securing the coveted 1st place spot and Winning PGS2.
The PGS2 victory is now Soniqs' 7th championship and 2nd global title in three years.
