Soniqs Esports LAN Center Grand Opening
Soniqs Esports has opened a state-of-the-art Esports facility near Harrisburg University of Science and Technology's new Education Center. Located at 19 S. Third St., the LAN Center officially opened its doors on March 27, 2023, and is poised to become a hub for gaming in the area. The Harrisburg-based professional Esports team, Soniqs, will manage the facility, which is primarily intended for players to compete in multiplayer games using a computer connected over a LAN. The center is available to Harrisburg University's varsity Esports team, The Storm, as well as clubs and groups for private events.
Patrons of the LAN Center can participate in tournaments, engage in casual play with peers, or watch games as spectators. The roughly 2,000-square-foot space features gaming set-ups, spectator seating for Esports events, and more. Professional Esports players will also conduct workshops and other educational events to teach the local community.
"We wanted to build the LAN Center in the middle of downtown Harrisburg so we could give back to the gaming community," said Soniqs CEO Darren Moore. "We really wanted to give people a space where they could come, play, and learn."
The innovative space was built by Harrisburg-based construction company, JEM Group LLC, with support from Soniqs sponsors, Intel, Viewsonic, and Zipchair. The center features Intel NUC PCs with 12th Gen Intel(RR) Core(TM) i9-12900 CPUs, 16GB of RAM, and RTX 3060 TIs, providing a high-end gaming experience and learning tool. Accompanying the PCs are ViewSonic's 27-inch 1080p 240Hz IPS gaming monitors and Glide Gaming Chairs from Zipchair, which boast ergonomic support, height controls, adjustable armrests, and tilt tension regulation.
During the grand opening event, the HU Esports club had the opportunity to test the top-of-the-line machines available at the LAN Center. The CEO of Soniqs, Darren Moore, delivered a brief speech and ceremoniously cut the ribbon, officially opening the location for private events. Going forward, the LAN Center will serve as the home of Soniqs' future bootcamps and other esports-related events. Soniqs are excited to share the space with the gaming community and anticipate hosting many gatherings and events in the future.
