PGS3 APPROACHES
With PUBG Global Series 3 (PGS3) on the horizon, Soniqs Head Coach Owen “GUNNER” Monahan reflects on the team’s experiences during PAS3.
During the regional tournament, Soniqs started strong, finishing Day 1 in 6th position. However, in the second round of the group stage, the team faltered and earned only 29 points, which dropped them into 9th place knocking them into the Last Chance Qualifiers. In a fierce competition where the top 8 teams advance to the Grand Finals to compete for the grand prize, and for a chance at competing in PGS3, Soniqs rallied and finished the qualifiers with 141 points, securing 2nd place. Despite these ups and downs, the team ultimately secured a 5th place finish, just 25 points shy of the top-4.
“The key takeaway from our performance in PAS3 is that there’s always room for improvement. We made some mistakes but also learned a lot in the process,” said Monahan. “Hindsight is 20/20, and while we can’t go back and fix every mistake or misplay, I can promise that going into PGS3, you’ll be seeing a much more sharply focused version of the team. We’ve all been working hard to make Soniqs not only the best team in NA but the best team in the world. We hope we’re one step closer to that goal, and we hope it really shows in PGS3.”
Coming off PAS3, Soniqs have a prime opportunity to prove themselves on the international stage. With this being the third showing of Kickstart on the team, Soniqs are hitting their stride, and PGS3 is their chance to showcase it. PGS3 and PGS4 will be held in Shanghai, China, featuring popular teams like Twisted Minds, 17 Gaming, Team Falcons, and TSM. These goliath teams will battle it out for the grand prize of $100,000 and the title of PGS3 Champion.
PGS3 marks Soniqs' 7th competition at the international level. This time, Soniqs roster consists of seasoned veterans and is well-poised to be a contender for the grand prize of $100,000, as well as the title of PGS3 Champions. Soniqs are set to step into the arena on May 20th for the opening games of PGS3. Watch the games live on twitch.tv/PUBG beginning at 6 AM EST.
